The Savage is a great touring bike. 9 or 10 years ago I took mine from Challis, Idaho (middle of nowhere) to the salt flats of Utah to see Harley attempt to set a land speed record. No trailer but had two people (combined weight about 400 lbs (I'm no lightweight and neither was my passenger) and all our camping gear. I had a 30" homemade sissy bar and everything was strapped to it and to the front forks. You could barely see the bike but it handled well and made the journey with no problems. Temperature was about 110 F out on the salt but we had a great time.
